This scene continues to fascinate me.

Not only do I believe Pete actually considers Bob’s offer for a second there, but there was a moment when his expression is all sympathy. Because Pete doesn’t know what it’s like to be closeted, but he does know what it’s like to be very lonely. He knows isolation and rejection. You can see him wanting to let it go - to just be nice for once. If he did he might have made a real friend.

And then his face hardens up. And the moment is gone.
